Finding a Program as Unique as You
If you are suffering from PTSD, Anxiety or Depression or have any other mental health concerns, having a better understanding of what is happening is the first step toward getting the support you need.
With mental health awareness on the rise, there are many programs available for individuals struggling with their mental health. We encourage you to explore the resources available to determine what is the best fit for you. Psychology Today is a great resource to explore the treatment programs available in various locations across Canada and the world.
Just as no two individuals are the same, no two treatment programs are the same. Finding a program that meets your needs is a very important component to the journey of healing and recovery. At Diversified we are proud to offer two unique residential programs; Traumatic Stress Recovery Program (TSRP) and Anxiety and Depression Recovery Program (A&DRP). Both programs are located in a private community setting in the heart of the beautiful Okanagan, Kelowna BC. We have welcomed individuals from all across Canada.
Here are a few things that make our programs unique:
Focus on your healing – One of the components that makes our program especially unique is that we focus on recovery and treating the symptoms of PTSD, Anxiety and Depression and not addictions. Participants must display no current substance use issues or demonstrate a sustainable period of recovery from addiction issues.
Small Groups – Each program has a maximum of 6 participants. Each participant has a private room. This cultivates an environment where individuals feel safe and comfortable to share their experiences and heal. Past participants have mentioned that they gained support for life from the relationships formed with other participants in the program.
Support Person (TSRP only) – Our program accommodates a support person during the first two weeks of the program. This may be a spouse, parent, sibling, caregiver, or friend who is an integral piece of an individual’s journey of recovery and healing. The support person participates in most aspects of the program and is also provided with individualized support, therapy, and stress management training.
Separate Cohorts – We offer separate cohorts for First Responders / Veterans and the General Population. Although those suffering from PTSD, Anxiety or Depression often share some similarities, having separate cohorts for these groups helps the participants connect with each other’s experiences, which further enhances the healing experience. The impact of peer support on the recovery process is massive and lasts a lifetime.
Bio-Psycho-Social Approach – We focus on all aspects of life and on the individual as a whole. Using a holistic approach helps participants form new healthy habits in a meaningful way, that remain with them well after program completion. In addition to utilising various treatment modalities, we also focus on work-life balance, nutrition, sleep hygiene, mindfulness, physical activity, and practical coping skills.
Home and Community Reintegration – We understand that it can be difficult to incorporate new changes and habits when returning home and to regular life. After two weeks of the program, participants return home for one week. This is a time to practice the skills learned thus far with continued support from our treatment team. Participants then continue building on these skills in the remaining 2 weeks at the residence. After the 5 weeks, participants return home, and our treatment team continues to offer support for additional 6 weeks to assist them in reaching their established individualize goals. This portion of the program helps reinforce positive behaviours and ensures the lessons learned throughout the program stay for years to come.
We understand that healing trauma is a lifelong journey. Our programs can help with your recovery so you can live your life again. For more information about our residential programs please visit PTSDrecovery.ca.
