Our program will provide you with a variety of new skills and tools to heal from trauma.
Week 1 & 2
Learning New Skills
The Traumatic Stress Recovery Program opens with two weeks of intensive treatment and support. While attending the program, you will share a residence with the other participants.
This residential component of the program will provide a network of peer support and an opportunity for group counselling and activities. Our highly trained staff will coach you and the other participants on healthy coping and relaxation techniques.
This phase of TSRP includes:
- Group therapy
- Individual therapy
- Guided meditation
- Biofeedback therapy
- Art therapy
- Exposure therapy
- and other treatment methods
After two weeks in Kelowna, you will return home for one week. This is time for you to practice the skills learned in week 1 & 2 and spend time with loved ones.
Our clinicians will be meeting with you during this week via telephone or video conference. At the end of the week, you’ll return to Kelowna for the second phase of the Traumatic Stress Recovery Program.
Week 4 & 5
Building and Reinforcement of Skills
When you return to Kelowna, you’ll continue with the next part of the Program. This phase will build upon the skills and tools learned in the first two weeks of the program. You will continue your healing and recovery along side your group members through household tasks and activities while attending one-on-one and group therapy sessions. This will help reinforce healthy behaviours and provide a safe space to share your experience and develop coping skills.
Week 6 to 11
Post Treatment Support
After you finish the 5 weeks at the clinic and residence, you will return home to continue with your treatment for an additional 6 weeks. Your designated clinician from the program will stay in touch, via phone call or video call, to support and assist you in reaching your established goals. This portion of the program will reinforce positive behaviours and ensure the lessons you learned throughout the program stay with you for years to come.
