Traumatic Stress Recovery Program

Support Person Criteria

A support person is defined as a significant other, or a family member, who resides in or has a close
relationship with the participant. The support person plays a crucial role in providing emotional support
and assistance during the participant’s engagement in the Diversified’s Mental Health programs and upon return home.

Admission Criteria:

  1. Emotional Stability: The support person must demonstrate emotional stability to provide
    effective emotional support to the participant throughout their involvement in the program.
  2. Commitment to Self-Care: The support person must recognize a need to prioritize their
    self-care to ensure they are equipped to provide the necessary support to the participant.
    This includes managing their own mental and emotional well-being.
  3. Assessment: The support person must undergo a pre-screening assessment by
    Diversified to determine their suitability to attend the program.
  4. Capacity for Mutual Benefit: The involvement of a support person should be deemed
    beneficial to both the participant’s progress and the support person’s understanding and
    ability to provide effective support.
  5. Compliance: The support person must adhere to the Diversified Mental Health program’s
    admission criteria, policies, and code of conduct at all times.

Responsibilities of the Support Person:

  1. Attendance: The support person can attend the program during the first week or both the first and second weeks, as determined by mutual agreement with the participant and the program lead.
  2. Participation in Program Activities: The support person must commit to participating in all program activities during their stay in the program.
  3. Supportive Role: The support person is expected to provide emotional support,
    encouragement, and assistance to the participant throughout their engagement in the
    program.
  4. Communication: The support person should maintain open communication with the program staff regarding any concerns, observations, or updates related to the participant’s progress or well-being.
